Summary

Blunt or sharp eyelid injuries in horses are common. An exact surgical adaptation under general anesthesia is indicated in eyelid lacerations with involved eyelid margin. Otherwise long-term problems like chronic corneal irritation with keratitis or ulceration are possible. Additional systemic and topical medication is indicated in dependence of severity of injury.
