Proceedings of the Widex Pediatric Audiology Congress

It is with great honor that I welcome the opportunity to appear as guest editor of this special issue of Seminars in Hearing. The collection of contributions contained within this edition was presented during the Princess Haya Widex Congress of Pediatric Audiology, held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in May 2010. Sponsored by Widex, this was the sixth time that this successful international biennial event had been held. Since its inception in 2000, the congress has received worldwide acclaim due its format and the presentation of some of the timeliest issues presented by the foremost authorities in the field.

Although this sixth edition of the congress was unique for several reasons, it also marked the first time Widex has teamed with Seminars in Hearing for the distribution of its proceedings. The stellar history and reputation of Seminars was seen as an important means to provide accessibility to peer-reviewed proceedings for clinicians and researchers the world over.

On behalf of Widex, it is with great pleasure that I present these proceedings. Our marquee of internationally renowned contributors offers an impressive insight into some issues at today's forefront in auditory science and its clinical applications. It is with sincere hope that the principles contained within these pages will enhance the research and clinical outcomes of the children for whom we have the fortune and privilege of helping.
