Die zunehmende Verschiebung der Familienplanung in das 4. oder 5. Lebensjahrzehnt führt zum Anstieg der Inzidenz von Schwangerschafts-assoziierten Mammakarzinomen, die mit einer Häufigkeit von 1:3000 bis 1:10 000 Schwangerschaften angegeben wird. Die Diagnostik ist aufgrund der physiologischen Umbauprozesse der Brust häufig erschwert, was neben der Verdrängung oder Fehlinterpretation von Symptomen häufig zu fortgeschritteneren Stadien bei Diagnosestellung führt.
