In den 90er-Jahren des letzten Jahrhunderts gewann die Schulterendoprothetik quantitativ erheblich an Bedeutung. Mit der Standardisierung der Operationstechnik gingen auch wesentliche technische und qualitative Veränderungen der Implantate einher, die zu einer zunehmenden Verbreitung des Schultergelenkersatzes führten.
