Abstract
With a prevalence of up to 25 % in young adults and athletes the patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) is one of the most common clinical knee disorder. Due to the multitude etiologic factors appropriate clinical physiotherapeutic and sports medical diagnosis as well as effective long-term treatment turn out to be very complex.
The aim of this study was to develop a structured clinical classification and treatment protocol and evaluate its feasibility and practicability. The study shows that the protocol was easy to apply in daily practice. Patients also improved regarding pain intensity and individual impairments in daily activities.
