Die steigende Reiseaktiviät im Kindesalter und die zunehmende internationale Migration machen das Wissen um importierte Erkrankungen bei Kindern bedeutsam. Die meisten erkrankten Kinder leiden nach ihrer Rückkehr an Durchfall, einer Dermatose, einer systemischen Fiebererkrankung oder einer Atemwegserkrankung. Das Spektrum der importierten Erkrankungen wird sowohl von der geografischen Region des Auslandaufenthalts als auch vom Zweck der internationalen Reise bestimmt.

Rising international travel activity in children and increasing international migration renders the knowledge about imported pediatric morbidity important. Diarrhea, dermatologic syndromes, systemic febrile illnesses, and respiratory disorders account for the majority of diagnoses reported in ill children after return from international travel. The spectrum of imported diseases varies by region of exposure and purpose of travel.
