Kernaussagen

• Parenterale und enterale Ernährung sind effiziente und wirksame therapeutische Modalitäten, deren kundiger Einsatz die Voraussetzungen für die Ergebnisse operativer und konservativer Verfahren der modernen Medizin schafft.

• Aufgrund geringerer Komplikationsraten, Invasivität und Ressourcenverbrauch wird die enterale Ernährung als Erstlinientherapie eingesetzt.

• Die parenterale Ernährung erfolgt immer dann, wenn das Behandlungsziel mit der enteralen Ernährung gar nicht oder nur unvollständig zu erreichen ist.

• Beide Verfahren schließen sich nicht aus und kommen vielfach komplementär zum Einsatz.

• Sowohl enterale als auch parenterale Ernährung können in der ambulanten Langzeittherapie mit Gewinn für Autonomie und Lebensqualität des Patienten eingesetzt werden.
