Publication History
Publication Date:

Summary
The overall risk of compartment syndrome following midshaft tibial fractures varied acrosss studies and ranged from 2.7–15.6 %. There are inconsistent results as to whether sex, open or closed fracture, or fracture type as determined by the AO/OTA fracture classification increase the risk of compartment syndrome. Future prognostic studies evaluating potential risk factors for compartment syndrome following midshaft tibial fractures should consider and adjust for confounding factors.
