Zusammenfassung
Ziel
Inhaftierte Menschen haben bei Bedarf ein Recht auf Palliativversorgung. Die Rahmenbedingungen
der Versorgung unterscheiden sich von denen im öffentlichen Gesundheitssystem. Ziel
der Studie ist die Exploration von Herausforderungen und Chancen der Palliativversorgung
im Strafvollzug.
Methodik
Durchgeführt wurde ein Fokusgruppeninterview mit Expert*innen der Palliativversorgung
im Strafvollzug. Das Interview wurde mit der Qualitativen Inhaltsanalyse nach Mayring
ausgewertet.
Ergebnisse
Die Interaktion von Krankheitsverlauf und Rahmenbedingungen des Strafvollzugs beeinflusst
die Versorgung schwer erkrankter Inhaftierter. Hieraus ergeben sich Herausforderungen,
aber auch Vorteile gegenüber der Palliativversorgung im öffentlichen Gesundheitssystem.
Schlussfolgerungen
Zukünftige Forschung sollte die Schnittstellenproblematik zwischen interner und externer
Versorgung von Inhaftierten sowie multidimensionale Bedarfe von Inhaftierten am Lebensende
beleuchten.
Abstract
Objective
Prisoners have a right to receive palliative care, if necessary. The framework conditions
of care in prison differ significantly from those in the public healthcare system.
The aim of the study is to explore the challenges and opportunities for palliative
care in the prison system.
Methods
A focus group interview was conducted with experts in the field of palliative care
in prisons. The interview was analyzed using Mayring’s qualitative content analysis.
Results
The interaction between the course of the disease and system related factors influences
the care of seriously ill prisoners. This results in challenges but also advantages
compared to palliative care in the public health system.
Conclusions
Future research should shed light on the (problems of) interfaces between internal
and external care for prisoners and investigate the multidimensional needs of prisoners
at the end of their lives.
