Noma – Die vergessene Krankheit

Noma ist eine destruierende entzündliche Erkrankung des Gesichtes, ausgehend von Ulzerationen am Zahnfleisch. Sie kann zu entstellenden Mutilationen führen und endet häufig tödlich. Noma betrifft vor allem Kleinkinder, die unter ärmlichsten Verhältnissen aufwachsen, und zählt heute zu den vernachlässigten Tropenkrankheiten.
