Abstract
For around 30 years, crisis intervention and emergency pastoral care have increasingly
been carried out in a structured manner and are now referred to as psychosocial acute
assistance (PSAH). PSAH is part of the overarching Psychosocial Emergency Care (PSNV)
and thus of Psychosocial Crisis Management (PsychKM). The professional basis consists
of consensually defined, evidence- and experience-based quality standards by all relevant
PSNV organizations in Germany. Efforts should be made to implement PSNV in the emergency
response structure based on a nationwide legal foundation. PSAH is alerted by emergency
services on site. The identification of PSAH indications by those organizations is
crucial. Especially quiet and “conspicuously inconspicuous” persons generally require
more support than those who are grieving loudly. Those affected are not to be regarded
as mentally ill, but merely as acutely distressed. Only a small minority of persons
affected by acute events develop a
trauma-related disorder like a PTSD in the later course. PSAH is intended to stabilize,
help those affected to realize what has happened and strengthen their sense of agency
and self-efficacy. In addition, the social network of affected persons should be activated.
The specific approach is geared towards the individual needs of the person affected;
fixed schemes are not to be used.
