Pars pro toto – Samuel Hahnemanns Lehre vom Stellvertreterleid als Grundlage der klassischen Homöopathie

Zusammenfassung

Samuel Hahnemann kam in seiner späten, miasmatischen Schaffensphase zu dem Ergebnis, dass es zwischen Krankheit und Symptom ein dialektisches Verhältnis gibt. Er suchte es im Sinne des Pars-pro-toto-Grundsatzes entelechial zu fassen: Das periphere Lokalsymptom, z. B. das syphilitische Geschwür (Schanker), vikariiert als Teil das Ganze, das heißt, es beschwichtigt stellvertretend die unsichtbare Gestalt der chronischen Krankheit (z. B. der Syphilis) so lange, bis sie homöopathisch geheilt wird. Wird das Stellvertretersymptom nur – suppressiv – lokal behandelt, kommt es im Inneren des Organismus zum Gestaltwandel der Pathologie (Metaschematismus), konkret zur Verschärfung des ganzen chronischen Krankheitsprozesses.

Mit den beiden Begriffen Vikariation und Metaschematismus ist unmittelbar das Denken der Homöopathie angesprochen. Von hier aus erschließen sich nicht nur das medizinische Phänomen der Unterdrückung der primären Krankheitsdynamik, sondern auch die Eigenart und Tradition der klassischen Homöopathie. Sie ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass es ihr immer um den Zusammenhang zwischen einer ganzheitlichen pathologischen Problematik (Miasma, Essenz, primäre Psora, Basic Delusion) und ihrer stellvertretenden symptomatischen Teilerscheinung geht.

Summary

In his late, miasmatic creative phase, Samuel Hahnemann came to the result that there is a dialectical relationship between disease and symptom. He tried to grasp it entelechially in the sense of the pars-pro-toto principle: The peripheral local symptom, e. g. the syphilitic ulcer (chancre), vicariously acts as a part of the whole, i. e. it appeases the invisible form of the chronic disease (e. g. syphilis) until it is cured homeopathically. If the representative symptom is only – suppressively – treated locally, the pathology changes its form inside the organism (metaschematism), specifically the whole chronic disease process is aggravated.

With the two terms vicariation and metaschematism, the thinking of homoeopathy is directly addressed. From here, not only the medical phenomenon of the suppression of the primary disease dynamic is revealed, but also the peculiarity and tradition of classical homoeopathy. It is characterised by the fact that it is always concerned with the connection between a holistic pathological problem (miasma, essence, primary psora, basic delusion) and its representative symptomatic partial manifestation.
