Ätherische Öle als Hemmer des bakteriellen Quorum Sensings

Zusammenfassung

Antibiotikaresistente Krankheitserreger stellen eine zunehmende Gefahr bei der Behandlung von Infektionen dar. Insbesondere Biofilme als Bakteriengemeinschaften rücken hier in den Fokus, da gegen sie klassische Antibiotika zumeist wirkungslos sind. Eine wichtige Rolle bei der Biofilmbildung spielt das Quorum Sensing, das durch ätherische Öle gestört werden kann.

Abstract

Pathogens that are resistant to antibiotics pose an increasing danger to the treatment of infections. A case in point are biofilms as bacterial communities which are resistant to classic antibiotics. Quorum sensing plays an important role in the biofilm formation. This process can be inhibited by essential oils.
