Jasmin Zessner-Spitzenberg et al. Comparison of adenoma detection rate and proximal serrated polyp detection rate and their effect on post-colonoscopy colorectal cancer mortality in screening patients

Adenoma detection rate (ADR) has been shown to be inversely associated with post-colonoscopy colorectal cancer (PCCRC) rate. This retrospective analysis of Austrian screening colonoscopy data demonstrates that the proximal serrated polyp detection rate is associated with a similar reduction in PCCRC mortality compared with ADR and that concomitant high detection rates for adenomas and proximal serrated polyps lead to significant reduction in PCCRC mortality.
