Abstract

Das diabetische Fußsyndrom (DFS) ist mehr als nur eine Wunde am Fuß eines an Diabetes mellitus erkrankten Menschen: eine Folgeerkrankung mit hoher Komplexität, starker Beeinträchtigung der Patienten bis hin zum Verlust von Gliedmaßen und hohem Ressourcenverbrauch. Ein besseres Verständnis und ein frühzeitiges, abgestimmtes interprofessionelles Behandlungskonzept in spezialisierten Einrichtungen hilft, komplizierte Verläufe und Amputationen zu vermeiden.

Abstract

Diabetic Foot Syndrome (DFS) is more than just a wound on the foot of a person suffering from diabetes mellitus: a secondary disease with high complexity, severe impairment of patients to the point of loss of limbs and a high consumption of resources. A better understanding and an early, coordinated interprofessional treatment concept in specialized institutions helps to avoid complicated developments and amputations.
