of a fully covered metal stent in malignant distal biliary strictures: a randomized
controlled study
Fully covered self-expandable metal stents (FCSEMS) are known for having a low risk
of tumor ingrowth but spontaneous stent migration is still a concern. In a randomized
study, it was found that placement of an anchoring double-pigtail plastic stent inside
the FCSEMS significantly increased stent patency and reduced FCSEMS migration without
serious adverse events.
