Shashank Garg et al. Spatial distribution of dysplasia in Barrett’s esophagus segments
before and after endoscopic ablation therapy: a meta-analysis
The distribution of dysplasia in patients with Barrett’s esophagus (BE) before and
after endoscopic therapy was assessed in this systematic review and meta-analysis.
Prior to endoscopic eradication therapy, dysplasia was found to be more commonly located
in the right half of the esophagus (OR 4.3); post-ablation, dysplasia was most commonly
seen at the top of the gastric folds (OR 5.3). These results have significant ramifications
for surveillance in BE patients before and after ablation therapy.
