    Endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) was confirmed by this systematic review and meta-analysis of 22 studies to be a useful diagnostic test in patients with acute pancreatitis of unknown cause. In this setting, EUS detects a potential cause in 59 % of patients and may reduce the risk of pancreatitis recurrence.
