Anterior and posterior peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) were compared in this meta-analysis
with no difference found in clinical success, adverse events, or post-procedure gastroesophageal
reflux disease, but with a shorter procedure time identified for posterior POEM. Although
of interest, this meta-analysis is limited by the heterogeneity of study design and
assessment methodology for outcomes.
