Oscar Víctor Hernandez Mondragón et al. Feasibility of the peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) procedure with a new small-caliber endoscope (thin-POEM) in patients with achalasia

Study examining the feasibility and safety of performing peroral endoscopic myotomy using a small-caliber endoscope. With slight modifications of the devices and closure method, the authors achieved successful submucosal myotomy in 45 patients, with excellent clinical response. The advantage of this new technique lies in using a smaller endoscope and potentially creating a smaller tunnel, but further studies are needed.
