Einleitung

Skoliosen sind als im Wachstum auftretende Erkrankungen bei gesunden (idiopathisch) oder neurologisch kranken Kindern und Jugendlichen anzutreffen. Sie können im Rahmen von Fehlbildungen (kongenital) oder Syndromen entstehen. Entsprechend heterogen sind die morphologischen Befunde und der Kontext, in dem Diagnostik und Therapie erfolgen. Deshalb ist die Formulierung eines allgemeingültigen Standards kaum möglich, und häufig sind individuelle Therapieentscheidungen nötig. Dennoch können einige Prinzipien in der Planung und Durchführung operativer Behandlungen gelistet werden, die es grundsätzlich bei allen Versorgungen zu bedenken gilt.
