In den letzten Jahren sind internationale Studien veröffentlicht worden, welche die außerklinische Geburtshilfe widersprüchlich beurteilen. Das ist Anlass für die DGGG, sich erneut zu positionieren.

Letztmalig hat sich nach 1990 die DGGG 2011 in einer Pressemitteilung eindeutig gegen Geburtshilfe außerhalb von Kliniken ausgesprochen.
