Abstract
Merkel-cell carcinoma (MCC) is a rare skin malignancy seen in elderly males. It is
a highly aggressive tumor with a poor prognosis. Surgery is the mainstay of treatment
for localized disease with adjuvant radiation depending on the locoregional extent,
while chemotherapy has a role in metastatic disease. Emerging data from treatment
with immune checkpoint inhibitors look promising. We report a case of MCC in an elderly
male diagnosed and treated with chemotherapy and radiation, with a review of the literature
of this rare malignancy.
