Significance

This work describes a dehydrative [2+2+2] intermolecular coupling of 1,3-dicarbonyls and terminal acetylenes catalyzed by MnBr(CO)5 establishes a synthetically useful, modular approach to benzenes and p-terphenyls and tolerates ester, halide and boronate functions.
