Abstract

From the unripe fruits of Rauwolfia vomitoria Afz., the alkaloids tetrahydro-alstonine, rauvomitine, yohimbine and ajmaline-17-O-trimethoxybenzoic acid have been isolated. The ripe fruits showed no trace of alkaloids. The biosynthetic significance of the occurrence of these alkaloids is briefly discussed.
