Abstract

Solanum glaucophyllum leaves, collected from stands growing in tropical and subtropical areas, have been assayed for their antirachitic activity. The equivalent to 24 - 120 micrograms of cholecalciferol per gram of dry leaves has been measured the rachitic chick bioassay. Leaf activity appears to be influenced by geographical location or climatic conditions and by the development of the plant (it is higher in vegetative than in reproductive state).
