Abstract

Three known sesquiterpenes, O-methylcacaldienol, 12-(dehydrocacalohastine-14-yl) cacalohastine and maturinone have been isolated from the roots of Cacalia auriculata dc var. Kamtschatika (Maxim.) Matsumura together with a new norsesquiterpene I. and new compounds V, VI and VII. β-amyrin and sitosterols were detected by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry.

Aerial parts of C. auriculata var. kamtscbatica suggested noticeable differences in their constituents. So a study of the constituents of the tuberous roots was undertaken.

The present paper reports the isolation and structure elucidation of 7 sesquiterpenes (I-VII), isolated by SiO2 column chromatography and further purification on preparative TLC when necessary.
