Abstract

This chapter details the limits and potential for percutaneous ostomy devices in the stomach and other hollow organs in the abdomen. Specific uses of percutaneous gastrostomy to aid in other areas of drainage are depicted. For example, the author describes gastrocystostomy, transhepatic hepatogastrostomy, insertion of a jejunal gastric drain, and finally, use of magnets to create a gastrojejunal anastomosis. The use of an innovative approach to percutaneous viscus puncture and its potential are outlined.
