Summary

The case of a 66-year-old female German patient is presented. The diagnosis of smouldering pyogenic brain abscess was made based on clinical signs, angiography and computed tomography. Only after neurosurgical removal of the abscess the pathohistological examination revealed tuberculous aetiology of the abscess with central liquefaction.

Zusammenfassung

Es wird über eine 66jährige deutsche Patientin berichtet, bei der nach klinischer, angiographischer und computer-tomographischer Untersuchung ein nicht ganz frischer Hirnabszeß diagnostiziert und operativ entfernt wurde. Erst die histologische Untersuchung enthüllte die tuberkulöse Ätiologie des Abszesses mit zentraler eitriger Einschmelzung.
