Sellar chondroma in a case of Ollier's disease

Summary

Chondromas are rare intracranial tumours. Sometimes they occur as a manifestation of a 'generalised chondromatosis'. The authors present a case of sellar chonroma in a patient with Ollier's disease. The tumour showed a mainly suprasellar extension resulting in a chiasmatic syndrome. The pathogenesis of intracranial chondromas, their clinical features, and CT- and MRI-findings are discussed.

Zusammenfassung

Chondrome sind seltene intrakranielle Tumoren. Manchmal treten sie im Rahmen einer Chondromatose auf. Die Autoren stellen den Fall eines Patienten mit einem Sellachondrom und einem M. Ollier vor. Der Tumor zeigte ein vorwiegend supraselläres Wachstum und führte zu einem Chiasma-Syndrom. Sowohl die Pathogenese intrakranieller Chondrome als auch deren Klinik und deren computer- bzw. magnetresonanztomographisches Erscheinungsbild werden diskutiert.
