Spinal subdural haematoma: A rare complication of lumbar puncture

The Autors describe a case of spinal subdural haematoma presenting as a cyst. It ist noted that cerebrospinal fluid parameters were normal, in contrast to what is usually found in similar cases; furthermore, no sensorimotor impairment was seen. Histological examination showed an organised haematoma; that explains why CT scan was not diagnostic in this case. Haematoma is probably due to the rupture of a vein localised between the dura mater layers.

Die Autoren beschreiben ein spinales subdurales Hämatom, das sich als Zyste darstellte. Im Gegensatz zu den Veränderungen, die in ähnlichen Fällen normalerweise gefunden werden, war der Liquor hier normal. Außerdem wurden keine sensomotorischen Ausfälle gefunden. Die histologische Untersuchung zeigte ein organisiertes Hämatom. Das erklärt auch, weshalb die Computertomographie in diesem Falle keine diagnostische Hilfe war. Das Hämatom geht möglicherweise auf die Läsion einer Vene zwischen den beiden Durablättern zurück.
