Summary

Three patients with a persistent trigeminal artery who had an ipsilateral cerebral stroke are presented. It is concluded that the persistence of this artery is an expression of a congenital abnormal development of the vertebro-basilar arterial System, which has no major protective value in strokes.

Zusammenfassung

Drei Patienten mit fortbestehender Trigeminusarterie mit ipsilateralem Hirnschlag werden vorgestellt. Aus den Befunden wird geschlossen, daß das Fortbestehen dieser Arterie der Ausdruck einer angeborenen Anomalie des vertebralbasilaren Arteriensystems darstellt, welches keine größere Schutzwirkung bei Apoplexien ausübt.
