Middle cerebral artery aneurysm developing apparently de novo

Summary

The author reports a patient with a fatal subarachnoid and intracerebral hemorrhage from a middle cerebral artery aneurysm, which apparently developed de novo. 18 years before, the patient was operated for an anterior communicating artery aneurysm and, during this procedure, an anterior cerebral artery was ligated. Hemodynamic disturbances due to anterior artery occlusion are suggested as the cause of new aneurysm formation.

Zusammenfassung

Die Autoren berichten über einen Patient mit tödlich verlaufender SAB und intrazerebraler Blutung aus einem Aneurysma der A. cerebri media, das sich offensichtlich neu gebildet hatte. 18 Jahre vorher war der Patient wegen eines Aneurysma der A. communicans anterior behandelt worden. Bei dieser Operation wurde eine Unterbindung der A. communicans anterior durchgeführt. Hämodynamische Veränderungen nach Verschluß der Arterie werden als Ursache der Ausbildung des neuen Aneurysma vermutet.
