Augenbeteiligung bei Botulismus

Zusammenfassung

Es wird über die ophthalmologische Symptomatik eines Botulismus (Typ B) bei 21 Fällen berichtet, der nach dem Genuß von Knochenschinken in Lengerich/Westfalen auftrat. Es handelte sich durchweg um eine leichte Form der Intoxikation, bei der die Verdachtsdiagnose bereits durch das obligate Symptom der Mundtrockenheit in Kombination mit einer Störung der Lesefähigkeit vom Augenarzt gestellt werden konnte.

Summary

The present paper reports on ophthalmological symptoms of type B botulism which occurred in 21 cases after they had eaten bacon. The absence of severe complications indicated that the intoxication was only slight. The suspected diagnosis was made by the ophthalmologist on the basis of the inevitable symptom of hyposalivation in combination with a deficit in accommodation.
