Probleme der Alltags- und Arbeitsfunktionen bei chronischer Polyarthritis

Abstract

The author gives a detailed presentation of the problems of functional disabilities in rheumatoid arthritis in respect of the effect of the manifold functional disturbances of individual joints and extraarticular structures on everyday and job functions. He also describes the compensation possibilities, the requirements of the patients in everyday life and at their place of working, as well as their readiness and capacity to master the situations with which they are confronted. Particular emphasis is given to the reduc ability to look after oneself with regard to shopping etc., the threat of social isolation, and the possible relief and aid that can be given.
The physician treating rheumatoid patients is remined of the fact that it is part of his task to aid his patients with regard to their social problems.
In an appendix that was added at the request of the editor the author lists the most important social institutions in the Federal Republic of Germany, their competencies, the addresses of the provincial and Land associations of the »Deutsche Rheuma Liga«, as well as the manifacturer of therapeutic aids.

Zusammenfassung

Es wird die Problematik der Funktionsbehinderung bei chronischer Polyarthritis hinsichtlich der Auswirkung der vielfältigen Funktionsstörungen einzelner Gelenke und extraartikulärer Strukturen auf die Alltags- und Arbeitsfunktionen, sowie der Kompensationsmöglichkeiten, der Bedürfnisse der Patienten im täglichen Leben und am Arbeitsplatz sowie der Bereitschaft und Fähigkeit, die jeweilige Situation zu meistern, ausführlich dargestellt. Die Beeinträchtigung der Selbstversorgung und der drohenden gesellschaftlichen Isolierung sowie die diesbezüglich möglichen Hilfen werden besonders herausgestellt. Der Arzt, der Rheumakranke behandelt, wird daran erinnert, daß er die Aufgabe hat, seine Patienten hinsichtlich ihrer sozialen Probleme zu betreuen.
In einem auf Aufforderung der Schriftleitung angefügten Anhang sind die Zuständigkeiten der wichtigsten sozialen Institutionen, die Anschriften der Landesverbände der Deutschen Rheuma-Liga und Hersteller von Hilfsmitteln verzeichnet.
