Abstract

20 patients with swelling or pain in the popliteal fossa were examined by ultrasound and arthrography. We detected 16 Baker's cysts; the information obtained from both tests was the same. As ultrasound scanning is a rapid, noninvasive, painless and reproducible technique, it has become our technique of choice for the differential diagnosis of popliteal swelling and pain.
