Abstract

Normal and pathological synovial tissue, (osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis) was examined by light microscopy using biotinylated lectins. The endothelial cells in all cases were heavily stained by UEA-I. WGA was able to stain endothelial cells as synoviocytes. We could demonstrate a positive binding on the cell membrane and a diffuse cytoplasmic staining. All other used showed no staining capacity of synovial endothelium.

Zusammenfassung

An gesundem und krankhaft verändertem Synovialgewebe (Arthrose, chronische Polyarthritis) wurden lichtoptische Lektinbindungsstudien durchgeführt. Hierbei zeigte sich, daß UEA-1 als spezifischer Endothelmarker gleichermaßen normales wie pathologisches Gewebe färbt. WGA stellt sowohl das Endothel, als auch die Synoviozyten dar. Der Reaktionsnachweis gelingt sowohl an der Zelloberfläche als auch intrazytoplasmatisch. Alle übrigen Lektinnachweise verliefen an den Gefäßen negativ.
