Ayurveda bei Diabetes mellitus

Zusammenfassung

Ayurveda zählt zu den am schnellsten wachsenden Therapieverfahren der Komplementär- und Alternativmedizin (CAM) in Europa. Die ayurvedische Medizin hat komplexe medizinische Theorien hervorgebracht und wird von der WHO als medizinische Wissenschaft anerkannt. Diabetes mellitus wird in den ayurvedischen Lehrwerken seit über 1500 Jahren systematisch abgehandelt. Zentrale Rolle im Krankheits- und Therapieverständnis spielt die Konstitutionslehre der drei Funktionsprinzipien Vata, Pitta und Kapha. Die ayurvedischen Therapiestrategien bei Diabetes mellitus sind stets individuell ausgerichtet und basieren auf multimodalen Therapiekonzepten unter Miteinbeziehung von Ausleitungsverfahren, Ernährung, manuellen Therapien, Lebensstilinterventionen, Yoga und Phytotherapien.

Abstract

Ayurveda is a fast growing therapy within the framework of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) in Europe. Ayurvedic medicine is generating complex medical theories and it is acknowledged as a medical science by the WHO. Diabetes mellitus has been dealt with methodically since more than 1500 years in the classical ayurvedic texts. Here the constitutional doctrine of the three functional principles Vata, Pitta and Kapha plays a key role in the understanding of pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment. Ayurvedic strategies for therapy for Diabetes mellitus are always individual and are based on multimodal treatment concepts. This includes cleansing therapies, dietary regimes, manual therapies, lifestyle interventions, yoga and phytotherapies.
