Significance

(-)-Decarbamoyloxysaxitoxin is a metabolite of the Australian shellfish Gymnodinium catenatum. The synthesis features a 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition to establish three contiguous stereogenic centers in B and a novel α-hydroxylation of the ketone E using IBX.
