Einleitung
Aufgrund der steigenden Anzahl zahnärztlicher Implantate ist zukünftig auch mit einer weiteren Zunahme postimplantologischer Komplikationen zu rechnen. Hierbei gewinnt insbesondere die Therapie periimplantärer Infektionen an Bedeutung. In den letzten Jahren konnten in zahlreichen experimentellen und klinischen Untersuchungen ätiologische Faktoren sowie Risikofaktoren für diese Erkrankung definiert werden. In Anlehnung an die Parodontologie wurden diagnostische Methoden an die implantatspezifische Situation angepasst und übertragen. Zudem stehen heute zahlreiche nichtchirurgische, chirurgisch-resektive sowie chirurgisch-regenerative Therapieverfahren zur Verfügung.
