The Aim of this study is to asses the possibilities of transcutaneous ultrasound in following up of the patients with presternal montage after esophagoplasty.

Materials and methods: In a four patients group with presternal neoesophagus we performed ultrasound in the following after surgery, using linear proves of 6MHz –10MHz.

Results: The patients with presternal neoesophagus are very rare. The superficial disposing of the neoesophagus, conduct to high quality of ultrasound imaging. The most important elements are: the integrity and permeability of the anastomosis, the identification of original organ used for neoesophagus (stomach, colon, small bowel or synthetic), the evaluation of the structure of the digestive tube, the physiological parameters of the peristaltic. The Color Doppler applications induce a better understanding of the parietal inflammatory processes.

Conclusion: External ultrasound is of great value in following up of the patients with neoesophagus after esophagoplaty being nonagresive in post operative stage, and easy to apply later.
