It is our good fortune to have Dr. Robert Ersek as guest editor for this issue of Seminars in Plastic Surgery on the topic of “Office-Based Plastic Surgery” and who shares his 25 years of experience in his office-based practice. I also want to thank the authors who contributed to this issue and shared their proficiency on office-based plastic surgery.

Dr. Ersek received his medical degree from Hahnemann Medical College and completed his general surgery residency at the University of Minnesota and a plastic surgery residency at Tulane University School of Medicine in 1977. Dr. Ersek went on to complete research fellowships at the University of Pennsylvania and Hahnemann Medical College, a medical fellowship in the Department of Surgery at the University of Minnesota, and also finished a fellowship in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He is board certified in plastic surgery.

Dr. Ersek has authored numerous publications and is an active member of several plastic surgery societies. He currently holds a position as an assistant clinical professor in the School of Health Professions at Texas State University in San Marcos and is in private practice in Austin, Texas.
