Harnwegsinfektionen haben eine hohe klinische Relevanz - Fallstricke bei Analytik und Ergebnisinterpretation von Urinstatus und -sediment

Nosokomiale Harnwegsinfektionen gehören zu den häufigsten im Krankenhaus erworbenen Infektionen. Dieser Artikel widmet sich den diagnostischen Kriterien, den Fallstricken der üblichen Diagnostik und den Folgen dieser Erkrankungen. Aus Sicht des klinischen Alltags werden dabei die besonderen Aspekte des Vorgehens bei oligosymptomatischen betagten Patienten aufgezeigt. Dargestellt sind eine kurze Übersicht zu den Empfehlungen der empirischen kalkulierten antibiotischen Therapie und den unterschiedlichen Erregerspektren in verschiedenen Settings.

Nosocomial urinary tract infection is one of the most frequent hospital infections causing additional costs and lengthens hospital treatment. This article describes diagnostic criteria, problems of pre-analytics and consequences of urinary tract infection especially in the elderly. Uropathogenes in different settings and recommendations for antibiotic use are presented for the years 2001 and 2006.
