Abstract

Dictamnine, isodictamnine, 7-demethylskimmianine, maculosidine and maculine were shown to be phototoxic to certain bacteria and yeasts in long wave UV light. Dose response curves with dictamnine and 8-methoxypsoralen in UV light were compared using E. coli and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. In comparison with 8-methoxypsoralen higher concentrations of dictamnine are required to elicit a phototoxic response.
