Abstract

The cyanogenic glucosides obtained from seedlings of Triticum aestivum ssp. spelta, the inflorescences of Secale montanum and the caryopses of Sorghum bicolor were identified by chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques. In all cases the cyanogenic principle is 2-β-D-glucopyranosyloxy- 2 - (4-hydroxyphenyl) -2S-acetonitril (Dhurrin). According to thinlayer chromatographic investigations the cyanogenic glucoside of Secale cereale seems also to be Dhurrin.
