Abstract
A new strongly bitter acyl secoiridoid glucoside, scabraside, has been isolated along with two known secoiridoid glucosides, trifloroside and gentiopicroside (= gentiopicrin), from the rhizomes and roots of Gentiana scabra var. Buergeri. The structure of the scabraside was established by chemical and spectral evidence.
