Abstract

3α-Dihydrocadambine exhibited dose-dependent hypotensive and anti-hypertensive effects in anesthetized normotensive rats and in conscious spontaneously hypertensive rats. Its activity was much stronger and longer-lasting than that of rhynchophylline. In anesthetized dogs, it caused dilation of the vertebral, femoral and common carotid arteries, and had almost no effect on the coronary artery, whereas it had almost no significant activity in isolated canine arterial strip preparations.
