Introduction

Small-bowel endoscopy innovations in the past year have included increasing our understanding of the capabilities and limitations of capsule endoscopy (CE), and expanding the use of this technique [1] [2] [3]. Enough data have accumulated on the use of CE in Crohn’s disease (CD) to enable a meta-analysis to be carried out. In addition, knowledge and experience are evolving with double-balloon enteroscopy (DBE) [4] [5]. These two technologies may well complement each other in evaluating patients with suspected small-bowel pathologies [6].
