Übersicht:

Die gegenwärtig zu beobachtende Medikalisierung sexueller Probleme von Frauen führt dazu, so die Autorin, sexuelle Zufriedenheit auf sexuelle Funktionen zu reduzieren und somatische Ursachen sowie medikamentöse Behandlungsformen dieser Probleme in den Vordergrund zu rücken. Demgegenüber verweist die empirische psychosoziale Forschung auf komplexe Zusammenhänge zwischen sexueller Zufriedenheit von Frauen einerseits und sozialen, biografischen und Persönlichkeitsmerkmalen sowie Charakteristika der Partnerschaft und der Partnerkommunikation andererseits. Die Autorin trägt die Ergebnisse dieser Studien zusammen und plädiert dafür, soziale, psychische und paardynamische Bedingungen in Forschung und Therapie sexueller Probleme von Frauen wieder stärker zu berücksichtigen.
