A novel approach to the management of Mirizzi's syndrome due to a mucocele of the
gallbladder is reported. Endoscopic retrograde catheterisation of the gallbladder
permitted decompression, and was followed by extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy
of gallbladder calculi in an 80-year-old man considered unfit for operation.
